Our client advocates and promotes interests of the Floriculture Sector with an aim to enhancing market access is seeking to recruit a Agro-logistic Project Coordinator to be based in their Nairobi Office. The successful candidates who will support and facilitate the implementation of the sea freight project in Kenya.  The ideal candidate Must be Agile, Innovative with a good understanding of the Floriculture/ Horticulture sector and have experience in the Logistic.

Key Requirements:

  • Serve as a point of contact for relevant stakeholders who will be tasked with leading the adoption of shipping perishables from Kenya using sea freight
  • Raise sea freight as a viable alternative to air freight on agendas with relevant government stakeholders and commercial parties including producers, exporters/importers
  • Develop a goal oriented and result driven workplan based on the objectives of the Framework of Cooperation, which is to be approved by the Company
  • Facilitate the communication between the Company, the Kenyan Government and other stakeholders by convening regular meetings, for which he/she sets the agenda, coordinates the meetings and shares minutes
  • Organize the data collection and mapping of production areas, companies, volumes and other key parameters identified, including overviews of products that are well suited for sea freight
  • Identify frontrunners in the adoption of sea freight as well as learnings being taken and potential best practices
  • Develop a plan to resolve identified bottlenecks and inefficiencies that need improvement
  • Identify needs and interests of key stakeholders, provide regular updates on meetings with stakeholders as well as their plans and ambitions, and other relevant developments related to sea freight
  • Identify partners interested in sea freight trials and develop a plan to execute this with the relevant actors
  • Organize activities to increase awareness and commitment for the adoption of sea freight in Kenya
  • Facilitate the communication with other stakeholders in Kenya, by linking relevant stakeholders to each other and following up on developments
  • Contribute to the external communication on the adoption to sea freight via newsletter and/or website with regular updates and at least one article every 3 months
  • Be the “feet on the ground” who organizes high level events/visits/missions/delegation for promoting sea freight logistics activities both from the governments and other relevant key stakeholders

Qualifications.

  • Academic qualifications, preferably MSc/MA in logistics, agriculture, agri-business agricultural economics or other relevant qualifications.
  • Must have experience in sea & Air Logistics
  • At least 6 years relevant work experience.
  • Strong interest in agro-logistics and floriculture/Horticulture.
  • Familiarity with the stakeholders, main policies, and procedures in the field of agro-logistics and floriculture.
  • Affinity with capacity strengthening and facilitation of trainings and workshops.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English, including the ability to deliver concise written documents suitable for a large audience.
  • Ability to develop factsheets and/or infographics.
  • Ability to work in an intercultural and multi-disciplinary team, excellent interpersonal skills, analytical and attentive to details.
  • Affinity with international agribusiness, business development, and international supply chains.
  • Able to take the initiative and responsibility in a planned, commercial, business case and commitment planning sense.
  • Computer literate, excellent in word processing, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint and internet use.

Salary: Monthly Gross salary of Ksh. 160,000 – 170,000 depending on experience and qualifications.
